Parsons Peebles Conduct Pump Overhaul to Keep Britain Flowing

Our talented team of engineers at our Avonmouth facility has recently completed an emergency overhaul of a pump for one of the largest water suppliers in the UK.

As our relationship has grown, Parsons Peebles now provides this water supplier with a 24hrs 7days a week personal service, sending them weekly work in progress updates and providing an account representative to deal with any day to day issues and requests.

When this 115kw Grundfos pump arrived our team got straight to work so to minimise the downtime of the client and to ensure that their customers faced minimum disruption. After the pump had been steam cleaned, deragged, dismantled and inspected it was clear that it had a snapped shaft, worn bearings, and worn seals. In order to bring the machine back to its former glory the following actions were carried out:

– Supplied and fitted new bearings and seals.

– Supplied new oil, moisture switches & orings.

– Manufactured a new stub shaft repair.

– Dynamically balanced the rotor.

– Steamed and stoved the stator.

– Varnished and anti-tracked windings.

– Completed overhaul and refurbishment of the pump.

– Rebuilt and painted the pump.

– Carried out the run test and record results.

– Top and tailed mains cable after the pressure test.

The service and overhaul were completed on a high priority basis to ensure the customer received their pump back in full working order in the shortest timeframe possible minimising their downtime and their costs.
