Peebles have just dispatched the first of two induction motors which are the largest to be manufactured at the Rosyth facility, and among the largest ever produced by the Company and its predecessors.
The first motor, shown here at final assembly was then disassembled for packing and shipment to the USA. The motors will drive reciprocating compressors at a gas storage facility in Louisiana . Rated at 10,000 / 4,000HP (7500 / 3000kW), the windings are configured to operate at two speeds – 357 and 179rpm (20 / 40 pole) to provide operational flexibility at the facility, and are capable of transitioning between the two speeds.
The second machine is shown during assembly with the cage rotor temporarily mounted on its bearings on the baspelate . The rotor will be removed from its bearings and threaded through the stator before reassembly on the baseplate.

Peebles have a number of large motors currently in production, and the above illustrates the company’s ability to ‘reverse engineer’ to match existing installations and design and manufacture machines for bespoke applications.
